Interactive Heat Maps

These interactive maps are designed to highlight substance use rates among 8th and 11th graders in Delaware and how they have changed over time. Each tap in the interactive maps represents two years of Delaware School Survey data, and users can click between taps to see how rates of substance use vary over time. Substance rates were collected using the Delaware School Survey data from 2014-2018.  Substance rates include  past month rates of alcohol use, past two week binge drinking,  past month marijuana use, past month cigarette use, past year prescription drug use, and past year rates of prescription pain killer use are displayed by zip codes. The lighter yellow zip codes represents areas of lower use, while bolder red zip codes represents areas of higher use. Below you will find two links to the Delaware interactive heat map. The last link provides a map presenting the geographical distributions of after school program resources as well as teen substance use rates. Please click here for a tutorial about using the 8th and 11th grade interactive maps.
