Anderson, Ph.D<strong><em>.</em></strong> is a Professor in the University of Delaware’s Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice and an Associate Director of the Center for Drug and Health Studies.  Her books-- <em>Understanding Deviance: Connecting Classical and Contemporary Perspectives (Routledge)</em>, <em>Rave Culture: The Alteration and Decline of a Philadelphia Music Scene</em> (Temple University Press), <em>Sex, Drugs, and Death</em> (Routledge), and <em>Neither Villain nor Victim: Empowerment and Agency among Women Substance Abusers</em> (Rutgers University Press)-- and her peer review papers showcase her expertise in substance abuse, deviance, culture, gender and social control.  Professor Anderson’s research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institute of Drug Abuse, National Institute of Justice, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the National Association of State Controlled Substance Authorities, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and the University of Delaware.  Presently, Anderson is serving as a Principal Investigator on several projects that address the opioid epidemic and related health and social problems.  For example, she is serving as a Principal Investigator on an NIJ-funded project entitled the “Delaware Opiate Metric Intelligence Project” (DOMIP) to provide opioid surveillance metrics to policy-makers, practitioners, experts and the public for education, intervention, and scientific contribution.  DOMIP builds on Anderson’s partnerships with numerous Delaware state agencies, funded also by federal grants, to combat prescription drug abuse and related health and social problems. </p><p>These projects build on her expertise in substance abuse and her numerous publications on the topic. </p></div>, Tammy302-831-6113<img alt="" src="/Images%20Bios/image.png" width="637" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />Associate Director Principal InvestigatorPrincipal Investigator
